Lieutenant Governor Vs Chief Minister: Is It Advertising Or Partying On Public Money in Delhi?

LG Vs CM : Are these advertisements or partying by the party of Aam Aadmi? Lieutenant Governor of Delhi V.K. Saxena has written a letter to Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party, demanding that it deposit Rs 97 crore in the government treasury. The LG alleges that this is the public money which has been spent on advertisements by the AAP government in Delhi.

LG Vs CM : The AAP party has made it clear that the Lieutenant Governor has no right to make such a demand. And if the Aam Aadmi Party has to get Rs 97 crore deposited in the treasury, then the BJP has to deposit 22 thousand crores. AAP says BJP governments have been using public money for advertisements in all their respective states. The Lieutenant Governor has expressed objection over the Delhi government’s advertisements being used outside the Delhi province.

LG Vs CM : On this, the AAP party has collected figures and told that the BJP governments have spent the said huge amount on advertisements outside their province only. The AAP party has called it the love letter of the Lieutenant Governor to the Chief Minister. In fact, nowadays all the ruling parties shamelessly spend money on government advertisements.

Misuse of public money

This is the money collected from public tax. Through these advertisements, the feeling of making the public aware of the good works of the government is good, but this work is done through TV channels and newspapers. Moreover, every leader wants to play his flute through advertisements and beat his drums.

Exaggerated claims in adverts

Shamelessly, the exaggerated claims are made in these advertisements, which also mislead people and spread misconceptions among them. The matter was also considered by the Supreme Court. It has banned those advertisements which carry party-propaganda. It has not banned government advertisements. The AAP party was also found guilty earlier in this case. But it gets worse when through government advertisements, governments put tremendous pressure on TV channels and newspapers.

Media is also a party to the game

Resultantly, due to greed, the media platforms stop speaking. In fact, advertisements are also a kind of bribery. On the days of elections, bribes are distributed to the public and on normal days, the entire newspaper is bought by feeding them advertisement bribery. The result of the bribery to the public is uncertain, but the bribery to the media is clearly visible on the second day itself.
