15 January 2023: Oil Rates Constant; India Likely To Have Ethanol Pumps, Says Union Minister Nitin Gadkari

15 January 2023: The oil rates are constant in the country on 15 January 2023, i.e. Sunday. India is likely to establish ethanol pumps across India, said Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari.

Ethanol Pumps In India

Ahead of the unchanged oil price in India, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, has announced that a policy to establish ethanol pumps across India is being developed.

He has been leading from the front to transform the face of Indian roads and highways and mobility. His work in road and highway development needs no introduction and is even drawing appreciation from the opposing political parties.

The Union Minister said that he will be meeting with Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri within the next two weeks to work on the policy. He highlighted the need for 1,000 crore liters of ethanol if it is blended with petrol at a ratio of 20 percent. This is to reduce the dependence on fossil fuel and also to help in reducing carbon emissions.

Major manufactures have already developed motorcycles that can run on 100 percent bioethanol. This is a big step towards sustainable transportation and also a way to reduce the import of fossil fuels. Additionally, he stated that it is possible to manufacture auto-rickshaws that can run on bioethanol, emphasizing the potential and high demand for ethanol as a biofuel, said the Union Minister.

Mr. Gadkari has mentioned that Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have expressed interest in importing ethanol from India and that he has held discussions with leaders of both nations on this matter. This could open up new opportunities for India in the biofuel market and also help in reducing the trade deficit.
