Disney Star Network Launches Two New Movie channels

The Disney Star Network has made public the debut of two new Hindi movie channels, ‘Star Gold Thrills’, and ‘Star Gold Romance’, under the Star Gold Network.

These will be available for subscription on cable networks, HITS (headend-in-the-sky), IPTV (Internet Protocol Television), and DTH (direct-to-home) platforms beginning March 15, 2023.

According to the Network, the new channels will cater to a wide range of audiences and deliver content from a variety of genres.

Star Gold Thrills will be a 24×7 Hindi movie channel dedicated to action, featuring a wide range of movie genres such as action, adventure-fantasy, thrillers, sci-fi movies, and the biggest franchises such as Mission Impossible, Godzilla, X-Men, Transformers, Die Hard, and Pirates of the Caribbean.

For the first time in Hindi, movie titles will be curated from some of the world’s largest studios, including Disney, Twentieth Century Studios, Warner Bros, Sony, and Paramount. Thums Up has joined forces with Star Gold Thrills as a Channel Partner.

With classic films and current hits from Bollywood, South cinema, and Hollywood, Star Gold Romance will be the go-to TV channel for viewers who enjoy love and romance in movies. From Luka Chuppi to Sita Ramam to Titanic, the channel will also feature some of Yash Raj Films’ most coveted romantic films.

Statement by Head of Network Entertainment Channels of Disney Star

Disney Star’s Head of Network Entertainment Channels, Kevin Vaz said, “We now have a bouquet of five Hindi movie channels under the Star Gold brand umbrella, transforming Star Gold from a movie channel to a cohesive network of movie channels with the introduction of Star Gold Thrills and Star Gold Romance”.

Further, he said, “Today’s audiences are eager to see blockbuster films from all over the world, but the language remains a barrier for many. According to research, 68% of TV-Movie consumers prefer to watch Hollywood movies in Hindi, and we are excited to break through the language barrier and provide movies that our people want to watch with Star Gold Thrills”.

“Female viewers constantly demonstrate a larger affinity for Hindi movies led by romance and drama, although there is not a single movies destination that caters to female consumers on TV. In fact, 98% of female TV movie viewers would choose a new Hindi movie channel dedicated to love and romance, making Star Gold Romance a compelling idea”, he continued.
