Kangana Ranaut and Priyanka Chopra
Of late, Priyanka Chopra has been making a great deal of noise about Bollywood. She has spoken a lot, about everything from pay disparity to politics in the film industry. As of late, she has talked about how, regardless of completing 60 movies, she is not paid comparable to male entertainers. She mentioned in the interview that she would be paid 10% of what male actors would be paid. Now, Kangana Ranaut has responded to Priyanka Chopra’s assertions. On her Instagram stories, she has written a lengthy note stating that pay disparity is real.
Kangana Ranaut wrote in the note that women in the past had no choice but to comply with patriarchal norms and that she was the first woman in Bollywood to advocate for pay disparity. She also stated that, when she was still in the negotiation stage, some of her coworkers offered to work for free. The actress went on to write, “I can say with confidence most A-listers (women) do films for free along with offering other favors because they fear roles will go to the right people… and then shrewdly release articles that they are the highest paid, haha… in the film industry everyone knows that only I get paid like male actors and no one else… and they have no one else to blame at least now.”
She also wrote that “I can say with confidence that most A-listers (women) can. After this actress also shared a video.
On the work front, Kangana Ranaut is running on a tight schedule. The actress has a few films in her kitty. Kangana will be next seen in the movie Emergency. She will be playing the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. She also has films like Tejas, Chandramukhi 2, and more in the pipeline.
Talking about Priyanka Chopra, the diva will next be seen in a movie called Jee Le Zara along with Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif. She was recently seen in Amazon Prime Videos’ series Citadel.
