Dev Mohan will play Dushyanta, the king of the Puru Dynasty, in the film, which is based on the well-known Indian play Shakuntala by Kalidasa. Aditi Balan and Mohan Babu also appear in supporting roles in Shaakuntalam. Arha, the daughter of Allu Arjun, will make her Telugu film debut in this one.
