Mani Ratnam Calls Divya Dutta a Doppelganger

Divya Dutta is an Indian actress and model who was born on September 25, 1977. She has acted in Malayalam, English, and Punjabi movies in addition to Hindi and English ones. She has won numerous honours, including two IIFA Awards, a National Film Award, and a Filmfare Award.

Divya Dutta made her acting debut in the 1994 movie Ishq Mein Jeena Ishq Mein Marna. She has appeared in a lot of movies since then. The actor, however, has only ever had the pleasure of working with Shah Rukh Khan, her “crush.”

She appeared in Veer Zaara, playing the part of Shabbo, Preity Zinta’s companion Zaara. But for Mani Ratnam’s 1998 movie Dil Se, Shah Rukh had also suggested Divya’s name.

In 2001, she appeared in the music video “Romeo” by music duo Basement Jaxx, from London, England.

Divya recently spoke with Aaj Tak about meeting SRK while he was filming Dil Se in Delhi’s Connaught Place. She first encountered him while he was in a Jeep with people pounding on the windows and doors to get a sight of Shah Rukh.

He extended his hand and greeted me, just as in a movie, Divya Dutta remarked. Do you want some tea, he questioned. I just replied, “I want to be a part of Dil Se,” when he asked me why I was there. He pledged to spread my message.

Divya further revealed that Mani Ratnam messaged her on Shah Rukh Khan’s advice. But the director claimed he won’t be able to cast her since Manisha Koirala, the movie’s female star, resembles her in appearance.

The director reportedly said, “I can’t have two comparable actresses in one film,” in her recollection. Preity Zinta was therefore given the part. But Divya declared that she would always be appreciative to Shah Rukh.

Last seen in the Kangana Ranaut-starring film Dhaakad, Divya Dutta. The movie did not have much of an impact at the box office.
