‘She Is Pakistani First,’ Pak Actor Adnan Siddiqui Slams PeeCee For Calling Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy ‘South Asian’

Bollywood’s Desi Girl has always been in the news and she continues to hit headlines however, this time for the wrong reasons.

So, the whole melodrama started when the global star Priyanka congratulated Pakistani director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy on becoming the first woman of colour and the first woman to be directing a Star Wars film. While doing so, she addressed the director as ‘South Asian.’

Besides PeeCee, several celebrities extended congratulatory messages to Sharmeen for the film. It also included several ones from Pakistan. Mehwish Hayat wrote, “And it begins in a galaxy far far away.” “Insane! So so so cool! MashAllah! Congratulations” added Mahira Khan.

Cheering this historic moment, Priyanka wrote on her Instagram stories, “First person of colour and the first woman to direct a ‘Star Wars’ film…and she’s South Asian!! What a historic moment @sharmeenobaidchinoy. So so proud of you my friend! May the force be with you!”

Adnan takes a swipe at Priyanka

After PeeCee extended her wishes, Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui, who made his Bollywood debut with Sridevi in Mom, took to his Twitter to call out Desi Girl for her negligence.

Taking to Twitter, Adnan wrote “With due respect, @priyankachopra Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy is a Pakistani first just to brush up your knowledge. Much like the way you flaunt your Indian nationality whenever you get the opportunity before claiming to be a South Asian.”

Interestingly, it is not the first time the ‘Mere Pass Tum Ho’ actor Adnan has criticized Indian celebrities. Earlier, he had criticized the portrayal of Pakistanis in Sidharth Malhotra and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Mission Majnu.

On his social media handle, he wrote, “How much misrepresentation is too much misrepresentation? Bollywood has the answer. I mean come on, yaar with all the money you have, hire some good researchers to do homework on us. Or allow me to help. Make sure to take notes – no, we don’t wear skull caps, surma, tawiz; no, we don’t ask janab about their mijaz; no, we don’t go around throwing adaab.”
