2nd Naga Regiment Motorbike Expedition From Kohima To Kargil

Today at the World War II Cemetery in Kohima, Tongpang Ozukum, advisor for Nagaland Water Resources, interacted with a team of cyclists from the 2nd Naga Regiment.

In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Kargil Vijay Diwas and to honor the brave Naga troops who gave their lives in the line of duty during Op Vijay, the 2nd Naga Regiment will conduct a motorbike expedition from Kohima to Kargil (K2K) under the theme “Kargil Victory Ride”.

On July 2 at 9:30 am at the Assam Rifles Helipad in Kohima, the expedition will be formally kicked off. Lt Gen RP Kalita, GOC-in-C, Eastern Command, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, will signal the start of it.

The trip will travel over 4000 kilometers, stopping in 8 states and 2 unions.

On July 26, 2023, the 24th Kargil Vijay Diwas, the team will arrive at the Kargil War Memorial in Dras.  Because of your sacrifices, our national flag is flying. Ozukum addressed the expedition team and expressed “best wishes” from the Nagaland Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).

He praised the troops for defending and flying the national flag. He reminded the soldiers, “It is because of your sacrifices that our national flag is flying. On their journey, the expedition team was also instructed by Ozukum to share stories of the courageous Nagas and to express “our salute, regards, and acknowledgment to the martyrs’ families.”

At the interactive program were MLA Dr. Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso from the 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency, Col. Gaurav Singh of the 164 Naga TA, Col. SS Gusain of the 2nd Naga Regiment, and other officers. Lt. Col. Saini of the 2nd Naga Regiment will serve as the expedition team’s commander.
