Assam Chief Minister: Prime Minister Modi To Attend Bihu Celebration

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared details of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to the state on Sunday, saying the PM would attend the mega Bihu celebration in Guwahati on April 14, 2023.

Mr. Sarma said, “On April 14, Assam will witness a historic moment as over 11,000 boys and girls participate in Bihu, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will witness. The Prime Minister’s presence will boost Assamese morale because we regard Bihu as the state’s lifeline. The programme will be one-of-a-kind, and the people of Assam are excited about it”.

Assam Chief Minister listed the numerous events planned for PM Modi’s visit. “PM Modi will introduce a number of initiatives from AIIMS Guwahati. On the grounds of IIT Guwahati, one hospital will be constructed. At Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati, PM Modi will lay the cornerstone for a new institution and take part in the platinum jubilee celebration of the Gauhati High Court’s closing ceremony”, Mr. Sarma added.

“PM Modi will be present at the event at Sarusajai Stadium. He will lay the groundwork for the newly installed Assam Petro Chemicals Limited 500 project TPD Methanol at Namrup, which will cost Rs. 1,709 crores. He will lay the foundation stone for a new bridge connecting Palasbari and Sualkuchi on the Brahmaputra River, which will cost Rs. 3,170 crores”, Assam Chief Minister provided additional information.

President Draupadi Murmu paid a visit to Assam on Saturday and flew a sortie in a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter plane at Tezpur Air Force Station. During her visit, the President was also briefed on the aircraft’s operational capabilities and the Indian Air Force (IAF).
