Delhi Lieutenant Governor Returns Files Regarding Services Matter To Delhi Government Following Court Order

On Tuesday, Raj Niwas officials said the LG Secretariat has returned files connected to Services affairs to the Delhi government in light of the Supreme Court’s last week’s order on transfers and postings of bureaucrats in the city.

The Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that the elected government in Delhi has legislative and executive authority over matters pertaining to land, police, and public order, which remain within the jurisdiction of the lieutenant governor.

An official said, “The LG Secretariat, in compliance with the Supreme Court Constitution Bench Judgment dated May 11, has returned files pertaining to Services matters, back to the Government for necessary action”.

These files contain recommendations for extending the contractual duration of workers in several Delhi Government Hospitals, as well as acceptance of a Group ‘A’ staff member’s resignation from Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital. These were forwarded to the LG for approval.

“These have been returned with the observation that the departments may be advised to take appropriate/further necessary action, in light of the CB (Constitution Bench) judgment in Supreme Court on May 11”, the official added.
