Delhi Mayor Elections to be held today, meeting to commence at 11am

New Delhi, MCD Mayor Election: After the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections, everyone’s attention is on the mayoral election. Whether Delhi will get a mayor today i.e. on Tuesday. The special thing is that after 10 years, Delhi will get a woman mayor.

The corporation has completed preparations for taking oaths from councilors to nominated members and election of six members of the standing committee along with the mayor and deputy mayor. According to the information, in today’s meeting, the first remaining nominated members will take the oath.

House preparations are complete, the meeting will start at 11 am

Preparations have been completed for the House meeting of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The meeting will start at 11 am. Only those vehicles of councilors will be given entry into the civic center, which will have the sticker issued by the corporation. Apart from this, other vehicles of political parties will not get entry.  Also, a screen has been installed for the workers on the ground floor of the Civic Center, where they will be able to watch the live telecast of the proceedings.

The meeting of the house is scheduled on the fourth floor. The Delhi Police will supervise the security arrangements. As per a report, approx. 72 policemen, 12 commandos and 70 civil defense volunteers will be deployed as marshals inside the house.

House should run according to the rules – BJP mayoral candidate

BJP Mayoral candidate Rekha Gupta said that it is our endeavour that the house should run according to the rules, as well as the oath of the councilors should be done according to the order fixed in the process. Mukesh Goyal, leader of, the Aam Aadmi Party is requested to allow the house to function and allow the corporators to take the oath so that the councilors can get the pending work done.

If the election is not held today then the meeting will be postponed till April

If the process of swearing-in of councilors is not completed in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Tuesday, then the mayor election may be postponed till April, because the tenure of the mayor is till 31st March only. In such a situation, if the oath could not be taken on Tuesday, then there would be no time left for the election of the chairman of the ward committee and the standing committee. This election also takes one month.

Voting will be held in different booths

The corporation has set up two polling booths for voting. The white-colored ballot box has been made for the election of the Mayor, green colored ballot box for the election of the Deputy Mayor, and pink colored ballot box for the election of Standing Committee members.

(Note: Only 250 elected councilors will vote for the six members of the Standing Committee.)
