Delhi Records Its Heavy March Rainfall In Three Years, Check Weather Of Other Cities

Various parts of Delhi were hit by heavy rainfall yesterday, after experiencing pleasant weather throughout the day. According to the India Meteorological Department, the 6.6 mm of precipitation that fell in just three hours was the highest 24-hour total for March in the previous three years.

The rain was accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds up to 32 kilometers per hour and thunderstorms. Isolated rainfall can be seen on Tuesday.

According to IMD REPORT

On Saturday, the nation’s capital also experienced rain and hail, resulting in a maximum temperature of 25.3 degrees Celsius, the lowest temperature so far this month, 15 degrees.

The rain on Sunday and Monday also led to water logging and traffic jams in several parts of the city.

The air quality in Delhi has also marginally improved due to the rain. The 24-hour Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi was 154 at 4 pm, falling into the “moderate” category.

An AQI of 0 to 50 is regarded as “good,” 51 to 100 as ‘satisfactory,’ 101 to 200 as “moderate,” 201 to 300 as “poor,” 301 to 400 as “very poor,” and 401 to 500 as ‘severe’.

The weather agency has predicted cloudy skies and a drizzle for today as well.

Meanwhile, the weather will clear up tomorrow, and Delhiites can expect the next spell of rain on Friday (March 24).

For the next three days, there will probably be light to moderate rain, thunderstorms, and lightning over West Bengal, Sikkim, and the northeastern states.

“ Isolated heavy rainfall likely falls over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya during 20th – 22nd; Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, & Tripura, during 20th-21st,” IMD stated in a release.
