Gujarat Assembly Polls : The Second Phase Witnesses 34% Voting by 1pm

Gujarat Assembly Elections 2022 have the second phase of voting going on today. So far by 1pm around 34.74% voter turnout has been recorded.

A total of 833 candidates on the platforms of 61 political parties are on the fray which include the top names of CM Bhupendra Patel, Hardik Patel, Alpesh Thakor and Jignesh Mevani. The polling of this Assembly segments spread across Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar,  Vadodara, along with other districts.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also cast his vote in Ranip, Ahmedabad today during the Gujarat Assembly elections.

The second phase as the final phase of voting for the Gujarat Assembly polls began on Monday 5th of December today at 8 am across fourteen districts in the central and north regions of the state for ninety three constituencies. From 61 political parties a total of 833 candidates, are contesting the polls around these Assembly segments spreading across Vadodara, Ahmedabad,Gandhinagar along with other districts. So far by 1 pm a voter turnout of 34.74 per cent was recorded during the polling.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel are among political bigwigs who were seen voting early on Monday morning. Amit Shah, Union Home Minister and BJP MP also exercised his franchise Naranpura, Ahmedabad.

Young guns viz Hardik Patel, Alpesh Thakor and Jignesh Mevani along with other prominent candidates in the fray had played a significant role in shaping the 2017 state Assembly elections narrative last time.

In the second phase of the Gujarat polls many “star candidates” like Bhoopendra Patel,  Hardik Patel, Alpesh Thakor and Jignesh Mevani from their respective parties along with the CM candidate of Aam Aadmi Party are largely considered facing their “battles of prestige” being confined to their respective constituencies.
