Home Theatre Explosion: A day after the home theatre system exploded in Chattisgarh’s Kabirdham district, killing two people including a newly wedding groom and his brother, the police have arrested the bride’s former lover ahead of the eerie murder mystery.

This spine-chilling incident took place, when Hamendra Maravi and his brother Rajkumar while setting up the home theatre, were unaware that it was an IED (Improvised explosive device). Seven members of the family, including a teenager, were injured.

Home Theatre Explosion: Bride’s ex-lover is the suspect

Taking notes from the investigations, Police have identified the Kabirdham home-theatre bomb suspect as 33-year-old Sarju Markam, who is married and has two children. He was arrested from Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh, around 100km away.

The police said that the suspect was in a relationship with the 29-year-old woman and insisted that she become his second wife. However, her family denied their wedding plans and fixed her wedding with the 30-year-old Hemendra. Reportedly, he had no clue about this love affair history, the police said.

What made Markam do this?

After this marriage melodrama, the suspect Markam decided to take revenge, the police added.

According to the investigators, he bought a home-theatre system, stuffed 2kg of explosives inside the speakers and rigged the IED to explode on electrical contact. Markam used to work in the blasting department at a crusher plant in Indore, so he could lay his hands on explosives and knew how to put together a bomb.

Further, the police said that on March 31, Markam went to the wedding and presented the gift to a family member without being recognised, and quietly slipped out. The family opened the ‘gift’ three days later, on Monday, and was thrilled to see a home theatre although the package had no name or address. It exploded as soon as they plugged it in. The groom was killed on the spot and his brother died in the hospital.
