Indian Coast Guard: Huge quantity of ammunition and drugs recovered from Pakistani boat, 10 arrested

Indian Coast Guard: This is the seventh joint operation by Indian Coast Guard and ATS, Gujarat in the last 18 months and for the first time infiltration of arms and ammunition is being witnessed along with drugs.

Indian Coast Guard: Indian Coast Guard and Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in a joint operation intercepted a Pakistani boat with 10 crew members from Indian waters in the early hours of Monday and recovered 40 kg of narcotics from it. The cost of the seized drugs is around 300 crores.

Indian Coast Guard: In a statement, the Indian Coast Guard says that during the intervening night of 25/26 December, on a specific intelligence input, the ICG strategically placed its Fast Patrol Class Ship ICGS Arinjay close to the imaginary International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). Deployed to patrol the area. There a Pakistani fishing boat Al Soheli was seen moving suspiciously in Indian waters in the early hours of Monday. On being challenged by the Indian Coast Guard vessel, the Pakistani boat started to flee and did not stop even after warning shots were fired.

Ammunition and narcotics recovered

The Indian Coast Guard said in its statement that after a comprehensive search of the boat, some arms, ammunition and about 40 kg of narcotics, worth about Rs 300 crore, were recovered. The boat along with the crew has been apprehended and is being brought to Okha for further investigation.

7th campaign in 18 months

This is the seventh joint operation by the Indian Coast Guard and ATS, Gujarat in the last 18 months and for the first time smuggling of arms and ammunition is being witnessed along with drugs. During this period, a total of 346 kg of heroin worth Rs 1,930 crore has already been seized with the arrest of 44 Pakistani nationals and 7 Iranian crew members.
