The 77th Independence Day was celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district with high esteem, patriotic spirit and great enthusiasm by saluting and hoisting the tricolour.
The main function was held in the premises of Govt PG College(Boys) in Udhampur where Lal Chand, Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Udhampur who was the chief guest, hoisted the National Flag and took salute at an impressive march past presented by the J&K Police Personnel, ITBP, SKPA, NCC students and children drawn from various educational institutions.
Students through cultural programmes spread messages to the youngsters including ‘Say no to drugs’ and ‘divert your energy into positive ways’, and ‘participate in the development of the country’.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Sachin Kumar Vaishya, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Udhampur-Reasi Range Suleman Chowdery (IPS), SSP Udhampur Vinod Kumar and other officers of District Administration as well as police were present on this occasion. Large number of people had also gathered to view the celebrations.
