Legal Recognition Of Same-Sex Marriages Will Hurt India’s Cultural Roots, RSS-Affiliated Body Pleads With SC

In a letter to the Supreme Court, an RSS-affiliated body said that legalising same-sex marriage would defeat the purpose of the Hindu Marriage Act and also show how other religions and Western countries are “dominating” India. have been and are affecting the ‘nature of Hindutva’.

Samvardhini Nyas, affiliated with the women’s wing of the RSS, drew the apex court’s attention to the disastrous implications of legalising same-sex marriage. Raising many issues in the letter, the institution affiliated with Rashtra Sevika Samiti has said that by giving legal recognition to same-sex marriages, the development and personality of the children brought up by such parents will be affected, as well as, to a great extent, the youth.

In a letter addressed to the registrar of the Supreme Court, legal advisor Shweta Sharma wrote that giving legal recognition to gay marriage would defeat the purpose of the Hindu Marriage Act and also show how other religions and Western countries dominate our country. have been and are affecting the nature of Hindutva. A five-judge constitutional bench headed by CJI Justice DY Chandrachud is hearing the petitions regarding giving legal sanction to same-sex marriages.
