MCD Exit Polls: As the last phases of voting in the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections were being completed, AAP overtook the BJP (MCD). Under strict security, counting began at 8 am.

The outcomes fluctuated between the two parties. After more than three hours of counting, it is  indicated that AAP was well ahead of the BJP in a contest where the outcome is unpredictable in several wards.

Only over 50% of eligible voters turned out for the December 4 elections for the 250-ward Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).

AAP, BJP, and Congress were the main candidates in what was primarily considered as a three-way race. However, with the Congress finding it difficult to reach double digits, it is starting to resemble a two-horse race.

A day after polls indicated that Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would win a landslide and take control of MCD for the first time, exit polls were broadcast.

According to the exit polls, the BJP, which has controlled MCD since 2007, would come up far short of the three-figure threshold. But it’s obvious that’s not the situation right now.

The party has failed to resurrect itself in the nation’s capital, according to the exit polls, which also anticipated that Congress will perform poorly. Which is what appears to be happening.

Axis According to my India study, the BJP will win 69–91 municipal wards, while the AAP will win 149–171 municipal wards. The poll assigned 5-9 wards to others and 3-7 to the Congress.

The AAP is predicted to win 146-156 wards in the Times Now-ETG survey which gave 84-94 wards to the BJP and 6-10 to the Congress and up to four to others.

The News X exit poll gave the Aam Aadmi Party 150-175 wards and the BJP 70-92, while the Congress may win 4-7 municipal wards.

Top officials, including Union ministers, chief ministers of BJP-ruled states, and MPs took to the streets for door-to-door campaigning and gatherings to win over the public during the intensely heated AAP and BJP campaigning in Delhi.

Both the AAP and the BJP have given off the impression that they are certain they will win the election.

In the 2017 elections for civic bodies, the BJP, which has controlled them since 2007, defeated the AAP and the Congress by winning 181 of the 270 municipal wards. The Congress won 30 wards, while the AAP won 48.

Counting is held in 42 centres located in areas, including, Shastri Park, Yamuna Vihar, Mayur Vihar, Nand Nagari, Dwarka, Okhla, Mangolpuri, Pitampura, Alipur and Model Town

Twenty companies of paramilitary personnel and over 10,000 officers of Delhi Police have been deployed at the counting centres. Heavy police presence is ensured outside the offices of political parties to prevent clashes between activists of different parties.
