NFR Authorises The Zubza-Imphal Line Project To Improve Regional Connection

Indian Railways has earmarked significant funding for infrastructure development in an effort to improve connectivity in India’s northeastern area. Recently, the 140 km Zubza (Nagaland)-Imphal (Manipur) new rail line project received permission from the Railway Board for its Final Location Survey (FLS).

Nagaland and Manipur will have direct communication thanks to the new Zubza-Imphal rail line project.
According to a Northeast Frontier Railways (NFR) official announcement, the project is anticipated to increase railway traffic mobility, boosting both passenger and freight services.

According to NFR, the decreased travel time, expense, and distance will have a significant socioeconomic impact on the area, spurring growth and prosperity. It added, “Infrastructural development like new stations, road connections, goods yards, businesses will lead to overall economic growth of the nearby districts.”
The smooth movement of products over the new railway route, it said, will result in considerable cost reductions for firms that depend on freight services.

Several crucial railway projects are being worked on by Indian Railways in the northeast. The proposal to build a new railway line connecting Zubza, which is close to Kohima, with the Dhansiri station in Assam, is moving forward.

In addition, work is now being done on the Jiribam-Imphal new line railway project, which intends to link Manipur’s capital city of Imphal with the rest of the nation.
The Zubza-Imphal railway project’s FLS approval is anticipated to greatly improve interstate connections in the northeastern area.
