OWA Is An Example Of Selfless Sacrifice And Service For The Needy Says Governor

On July 19, 2023, Lt. General KT Parnaik, the governor of Arunachal Pradesh, paid a visit to the Oju Welfare Association (OWA) Center in Naharlagun with his wife, Mrs. Anagha Parnaik.

They went to the Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA), a Juvenile Justice Act-registered facility for orphans, abandoned children, and children who had been turned in, the Children Home, a Juvenile Justice Act-registered facility for children in need of care and protection, the Shakti Sadan, a short-stay facility for women in difficult situations, the Women Helpline-181 office, and the Free Legal Aid Clinic run by the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority (APSLSA).

They also went to the Oju Craft Center, where the women of Shakti Sadan get training for entrepreneurship and financial empowerment, as well as the tailoring department, weaving production facility, and sales outlet. The Governor and the First Lady of the State paid a first visit to OWA and stopped at the Padmashri Lt. Mrs. Binny Yanga Memorial Museum.

In his remarks, the Governor praised Oju Welfare Society for the outstanding work it has done in support of mankind. He claimed that the centre offers the disadvantaged people compassion, trust, and healing touches.

The governor recalled the late Mrs. Binny Yanga, the OWA’s chairperson, and noted that she had built a solid foundation of support and optimism. According to him, the centre helps distraught mothers and children find strength and equips them to handle all of life’s obstacles.

The Governor praised Mrs. Ratan Anya, Chairperson of OWA, and her group for continuing the late Bini Yanga’s mission. He claimed that OWA is an illustration of unselfish giving and assistance to the poor.

The Governor commended the OWA centre for giving women in need of skill development and educational opportunities for poor children. He expressed optimism that the center’s efforts would assist the young people and women it provided sanctuary for in becoming “Atma Nirbhar” and contributing members of society.

The Governor promised OWA full support and assistance from the Raj Bhavan and the State Government for the organization’s programme execution and infrastructure development.

The OWA Center provides food for 370 people, including 24 women in the “Shakti Sadan,” 10 women in the “Children Home,” and 47 children in the “Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA) Home.”
