PM Modi Apologized Among 150 People: Claims Darshan Singh Dhaliwal, Who had to Return From Airport

Farmers Protest: US-based NRI Darshan Singh Dhaliwal said on Tuesday (11 January 2023) that Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologized to him in front of 150 people in April 2022. Dhaliwal said this while receiving the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman on Tuesday. Significantly, on the night of 23-24 October 2021, Darshan Singh Dhaliwal was sent back from Delhi Airport to arrange langar for the farmers protesting at Delhi borders.

Speaking to Media after receiving the award from President Draupadi Murmu during the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, Dhaliwal said the conversation took place in April 2022 when PM Modi received a Sikh delegation at his official residence in Delhi. was hosted The meeting was attended by Sikh businessmen from all over the world.

Dhaliwal said that the Prime Minister apologized to me in front of 150 people for the fact that I was sent back from the airport. Darshan Singh Dhaliwal told The Indian Express that the PM told him, “Humse badi galti ho gayi, aapko bheej diya, par aapka badapann hai jo aap humare kehne per  phir bhi aagaye”. A big mistake on our part, but you have been generous by still showing up to my request.”

Dhaliwal was put on the return flight to the US on the night of October 23-24, 2021. Recalling the incident, Darshan Singh Dhaliwal said that the officials at the airport gave him two options. “I was told to either stop the langar and mediate with the farmers or go back,” he said.

Langar was run in Farmers Protest

Asked whether he also supported the political cause of the protesting farmers, Dhaliwal said it was humanitarian and had nothing to do with politics. I did it for the people. He said, “When the farmers came to Delhi in December 2020, it started raining in the middle of the night. I saw the video, he was sleeping in the water, it was cold. I thought these people needed help. So I decided to provide a langar and stay in tents, beds, blankets and quilts.
