Prima Facie Evidence Of “Some Interference” In The Signal System In Odisha Train Accident: Railway Board

The horrific three train accident which has sent shockwaves to the nation happened on Friday evening where two passenger trains and a goods train clashed in which more than 1000 people were injured and around 300 people died.

Railway Board statement

Member of Operation and Business Development, Jaya Verma Sinha said, ” According to the preliminary findings, there has been some issue with the signalling. We are still waiting for the detailed report from the Commissioner of Railway Safety.

Reason behind high death toll

Stating the reason why so many deaths took place Jaya Verma added, “The goods train did not get derailed. Since the goods train was carrying iron ores, the maximum damage of the impact was on Coromandel Express. This is the reason for a huge number of deaths and injuries. The derailed bogies of Coromandel Express came on the down line, and hit the last two bogies of Yashwantpur Express which was crossing at the speed of 126 kmph from down line.

“some interference” in the signal system

According to a member of Railway Board, they have prima facie evidence of “some interference” in the signal system. The official added that they can’t divulge more till the investigation is over. He also revealed that the people have been identified.

Root cause of accident identified

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the root cause of determined and track is expected to be completely restored by today after he conducted a review of restoration work at the accident site, Balasore.

Inquiry completed

According to Railway Minister, “The Commissioner Railway Safety has completed its inquiry into the tragic train accident in Odisha Balasore district and the root cause has been identified.” However, Vaishnaw has not revealed the root cause of the accident in which more than 300 people died and 900 people got injured.
