Rahul Gandhi Hitches Truck Ride On Highway At Midnight

Last night, highway drivers commuting from Delhi to Ambala were surprised to see Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a truck driving past them.

Videos of Rahul Gandhi seated in the co-drivers seat waving to onlookers have gone viral.

The leader was in Shimla to spend time with his mother, who was in the Himachal Pradesh capital. On the way, he encountered truck drivers at a dhaba in Sonipat, Haryana, and decided to hitch a ride to Ambala with them, during which he talked about their jobs and challenges.

The Congress tweeted, “Jannayak @RahulGandhi ji reached among the truck drivers to know their problems. Rahul Ji traveled with him from Delhi to Chandigarh. According to media reports, there are about 90 lakh truck drivers on the Indian roads. They have their own problems. Rahul ji did the work of listening to his ‘Mann Ki Baat'”, through its official Twitter handle.

Mr. Gandhi’s public encounters in Bengaluru during the run-up to the Karnataka Assembly elections were unplanned.

Mr. Gandhi was observed earlier this month boarding a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus and conversing with female passengers to learn about their vision for Karnataka.

The Congress has been discovered interacting with the people through public meetings since the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Srinagar.
