Army Chief General Pande: The situation that is arising on the sidelines of the China border is stable yet unpredictable, states the Indian Army Chief on Thursday. He also said, however, that India has suitable troop deployment along the Line of Actual Control with China and is fully trained to cope with any situations that’ll arise on the borders.

“Situation is stable on northern borders but unpredictable. We have been able to resolve five of the seven issues that were on the table. We continue to talk both at the military and diplomatic levels. We’ve enough reserves to deal with any contingency,” said the Army chief.

The Chief of Army Staff was giving the traditional pre-Army Day address to the media. According to Army Chief General Pande, India and China are still holding military and diplomatic talks to resolve the border dispute.

“Deployment from the adversary side on the northern border continues in the same manner. We have an equal number of troops on our side. There is a slight increase in the number of troops (by China) opposite our eastern command but we are keeping a close watch,” General Pande told media persons.

Also, he stated that Ukraine war  has lessons for India  to learn

“We carry an analysis of what lessons are there for us at operational, strategical & tactical levels . We  examine  these lessons . We’ve  integrated them in terms of  larger weapons platforms , cyberspace etc,“ he said

The General said that Army Day , observed on January 15 , will be a special occasion this year as it is the  75^th year of Indian Independence .

“In a firm and resolute manner with our soldiers deployed along the LAC, we have been able to prevent any attempts by our adversary to unilaterally change the status quo,” he added.

Ladakh has spent approximately Rs 1300 crores on infrastructure and habitat needs over the last three years. According to the Army chief, habitats for approximately 55,000 troops and 400 guns have been built in the Eastern Ladakh sector over the last two years.

While discussing the Rajouri terror incident, the General also targeted Pakistan, claiming that it has attempted to target minorities in order to cover up its failure in the Kashmir valley
