Foreign-Made Weapons Recovered From Asad And Ghulam, Says UP ADG

UP Special ADG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said both Asad and Ghulam were wanted criminals in the Umesh Pal murder case and were carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh each. “Sophisticated foreign-made weapons were recovered from the accused,” PTI quoted Kumar as saying.

He further added, there was secret info about them that they were going to attack the police convoy and release both the murderers. The incident happened at Pariksha Dham at 12:45a.m.

The victims were trying to flee with a motorbike, and later on, they fired on the police team following which the STF team shot them down. He later added,  “I personally thank our colleagues in the STF for carrying out this operation despite such difficult situations.” He expressed the same on the encounter of Asad and Ghulam and ended the conference.

Speaking on the encounter, UP Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya called it a very “historic action” by UP police. “It is a huge message that the era of criminals is over and criminals must surrender,” he said.

“I congratulate UP STF for this action. Police fired in retaliation after they were fired upon by them. It is a message to criminals that this is new India. It is Yogi government in UP, not Samajwadi Party in power which gave protection to criminals,” he further said.
