Made In India: A Question Mark On Indian Integrity

Made in India: India on Tuesday started an investigation into a Noida-based drug manufacturer. After the deaths of 18 children in Uzbekistan were linked to a syrup made by the company in india .

This recent incident questions about the integrity  of the  Indian Pharmaceutical Industry. India which is known for the largest production in medicines is also known as the  ‘Pharmacy  of the World’

However, this incident involving contaminated medicines not only call into question the authenticity of India-made medicines. But also endanger the lives of patients who are prescribed these medications.

After being notified, the central drugs regulatory team contacted the Uttar Pradesh drugs licensing authority on Tuesday. The central drugs regulatory team of the north zone and the state drugs regulatory team conducted a joint inspection. To lift samples of the drugs in question. The development was confirmed by officials from the state drug regulatory authority.

As soon as we got the email from the central drugs regulatory team. “We immediately constituted an investigation team consisting of assistant commissioner of drugs.  (Meerut division) and drug inspector from Gautam Buddh Nagar (Uttar Pradesh) to join the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (north zone) to investigate the claims,” stated AK Jain, deputy commissioner, drugs regulating and licencing authority, Uttar Pradesh.

First it was the deaths of 70 kids in Gambia & now it is that of 18 children in Uzbekistan. Modi Sarkar must stop boasting about India being a pharmacy to the world & take strictest action” To which BJP’s Amity Malviya responded by tweeting “The death of children in Gambia had nothing to do with the consumption of cough syrup made in India. That has been clarified by the Gambian authorities and DCGI, both. But blinded in its hate for Modi, Congress continues to deride India and its entrepreneurial spirit. Shameful “

What Took Place In Gambia?

The Maiden Pharmaceuticals Limited cough syrups were blamed for the deaths of 66 kids in the Gambia. Following the deaths, the World Health Organization issued a medical product alert claiming that four medications Maiden Pharma had delivered to the Gambia were of subpar quality.

The government denied the accusations, claiming that testing conducted at a government laboratory revealed samples of all four goods to be in compliance with specifications.
