Taj Mahal Paid The Price Of its Beauty !

Taj Mahal: A notice sent by Agra Municipal Corporation is in a lot of headlines these days. In fact, according to this notice, the Taj Mahal can be confiscated. If the dues of Agra Municipal Corporation are not paid.

The Agra Municipal Corporation has issued a notice to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). According to the notice, the Taj Mahal has been asked to pay Rs 1.9 crore as water tax. And Rs 1.5 lakh as property tax.

For this, ASI has been given 15 days time. It has been warned that if the tax is not deposited in these 15 days. The mahal can be confiscated.

What Does ASI Have To Say In This Matter

Superintendent of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) Raj Kumar Patel told the media about the matter that property tax is not applicable on monuments. At the same time, we are also not liable to pay water tax for the Mahal, as it has no commercial use.

Water is used to maintain the greenery inside the premises of the monument. This is the first time we have received such a notice, may have been sent by mistake. ASI officials say that the Taj Mahal was declared a protected monument in 1920. Even during the British rule, no tax or water tax was imposed on the monument.

Taj Mahal: Case Is Being Investigated

Regarding this matter, Municipal Commissioner Nikhil T Funde said that he is not aware of any tax-related action related to the Taj Mahal. Fresh notices are being issued on the basis of the statewide Geographical Information System (GIS) survey conducted for the calculation of taxes.

He said that including government buildings and religious places, notices have been issued on the basis of long dues. In case of notice issued to Archaeological Survey of India. Actions will be taken on the basis of response received from them. Sarita Singh, assistant municipal commissioner and in-charge of Tajganj zone, said that the matter of notice issued for water and property tax on Taj Mahal is being investigated.
