Cricket: Team India Women With Super Over Win

In a dazzling performance, Team India Women inflicted first defeat in twenty one matches on Australia. And the first defeat of Team Women Australia has come for the first time in the super over against India.

India win super over by 4 runs with a brilliant knock by Renuka Ghosh and Smriti Mandhana bringing home side to a thrilling victory.

All-conquering women team of Australia finally lost a T20 international where it took an outstanding super over by India’s big hitters for consigning the squad to a first defeat in the year 2022.

In Mumbai During the second T20 international on Sunday the contest went to the extra over. This followed by a tie with India’s Devika Vaidya hitting a four off the final ball  leveling the scores.

Utilizing the advantage of the great Indian escape after leveling of the score, India’s power hitters Richa Ghosh along with the player of the Match Smriti Mandhana, smashed sixes off Heather Graham in the super over clattering for twenty runs.

Then following the target Australia’s batters with captain Alyssa Healy’s fifteen run knock off five balls, could not make it to the target falling four runs short with mustering sixteen runs in the six balls.

In the triumphant Australian year, their squad After 21 victories, this was a disappointing first defeat for the new Aussie captain.  The T20 world champions were almost set to win again with a masterful century between Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath but in vain.

While batting first Aussies amassed a formidable one hundred and eighty seven runs including 82 runs by Mooney and 70 runs by McGrath. The batters guided their side to a 9-wicket victory in the first match of the series which was an unbroken stand of 100. Whereas this time putting on an unbeaten one hundred and fifty eight runs for the 2nd wicket which is an Australian record for any wicket in a T-twenty international match.

Player of the Match, Smriti Shriniwas Mandhana is a popular Team India Women batter who opens for the squad. She was also named the Best Women’s International Cricketer by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in June 2018.
