MI Enters Playoffs After Winning Against Gujarat Giants, Here Are The Match Highlights Of MI Vs GG

Harmanpreet’s MI became the first team in WPL 2023 to qualify for the playoffs after a big win against Gujarat Giants. Match number 12, which took place at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, gave a 5th continuous win to the Mumbai Indians. The Indians defeated the Giants by a massive margin of 55 runs, after which the Indians are at top of the points table with 10 points.

Highlights of MI Vs GG WPL

The Gujrat Giants chose to bowl after winning the toss. In their opening innings, the Mumbai Indians scored 162 runs while losing eight wickets within the allotted 20 overs. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur scored a half-century. She played an inning of 51 runs in 30 balls. On the other hand, wicket-keeper Yastika Bhatia and Nat Sciver Brunt scored 44 and 36 runs in just 37 and 31 balls. As the Mumbai Indians came out to bat, it seemed that they would easily score 200 runs in this match. Mumbai’s wicket continued to fall as the innings went on. The Indian’s had lost eight wickets despite a strong start. Ashley Garden of Gujarat took a maximum of three wickets and restricted the MI to a total of 162/8.

Chasing the target, Gujarat Giants got off to a bad start. Within just 50 runs, half the team had reached the pavilion. Three batters of the team were sent back to the pavilion without scoring a single run. Harleen Deol scored the most runs for the Gujarat Giants at number 3. 22 runs came out of her bat in 23 balls. Whereas on the other hand, Captain Sneh Rana scored 20 runs in 19 balls. The Gujarat Giants could only score a total of 107/9 in their 20 overs.

After losing their game against Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Giants are now left with 3 more games. GG will play their remaining 3 matches against Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz.

Whereas the Mumbai Indians are also left with 3 more matches which they will be playing against Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz.

After a big win against Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians are on first place in the points table with 10 points. While the Gujarat Giants are on fourth position with a single win this season.
