The Indian women’s cricket team suffered a major setback before the first match of the Women’s T20 World Cup against Pakistan. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana is ruled out due to a finger injury. Mandhana had suffered an injury during the warm-up bouts, but the team management expected her to recover in time for India vs Pakistan mega clash. However, as per the report, there is a possibility of missing the match against Pakistan.

Team India’s journey in the Women’s T20 World Cup will start on Sunday. The team has to face Pakistan in the very first match. Before the big match, this seems to be news no fan would want to consume. There are reports that Indian vice-captain Smriti Mandhana is yet to fully recover from the finger injury she sustained during the warm-up match and is not set to play against Pakistan in the T20 Women’s World Cup opener on Sunday.

The 26-year-old opener suffered a finger injury while fielding in the practice match against Australia on Monday. After this, instead of opening in this match, she batted at number three. Her innings lasted only three balls. Let us tell you that later on Wednesday, Mandhana could not play in India’s second practice match against Bangladesh. At the same time, the fitness of captain Harmanpreet Kaur is also a matter of concern. Her shoulder was injured during the final of the tri-series against South Africa last week. In such a situation, the injury of these two main players is the biggest tension for the team.

These teams will compete in Group B

The Indian team has been placed in Group B of the World Cup along with Pakistan, England, West Indies, and Ireland. It was the runner-up in the last tournament and this time team India would absolutely want to win the title.
