Another slap on Google: Rupees 936 Crores fine in India

This is the second fine on Google within a week in India . The Bill is Rupees nine hundred thirty six crores.

Today Google was again fined with a sum of ₹ 936 crore which comes to $113.04 million. India concludes yet another antitrust probe in the month of October 2022.

The penalty might prove a lesson for the global tech giant as the second antitrust penalty by the Commission of India (CCI) this month in India.

This fine takes the total penalty to ₹ 2,274 core and the allegations belong to the Play Store Policy of Google. Google is misusing its dominant position about Play Store policy, is the complaint behind the fine.

Google has also been ordered to stop engaging in unfair commercial practices in the country.

According to the CCI today, the second antitrust probe this month found the US tech firm guilty of abusing its dominant market position through which the company is promoting  its payments app and in-app payment system.

The CCI has clearly tweeted what it found out of the probe. It writes that it fines Google for anti-competitive practices  which is related to Google’s  Play Store policies.
