Air Strikes in Syria By US Army: Smashing Reply To Iran Backed Drone Attack

Amidst the ongoing tensions between Iran and US, the US executed air strikes in Eastern Syria. Though executed in Syria, the strikes were aimed at Iran-aligned groups in the nation. The strikes were carried out in retaliation for the killing of an American contractor by an Iranian drone. In addition to this, the drone also injured 5 American troops.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a group that monitors the war in Syria, said the U.S. strikes had left eight pro-Iranian fighters dead in Syria.

Iranian drone hit that resulted in Air Strikes

The attack against US personnel took place at a coalition base near Hasakah in northeast Syria. A Department of Defense statement said the US contractor had been killed and the others wounded “after a one-way unmanned aerial vehicle struck a maintenance facility on a coalition base near Hasakah in northeast Syria.” The US army assessed the drone and it resulted to be of Iranian Origin.
Hence the results have further aggravated the situation between Washington and Tehran.

Be prepared for us to act ‘forcefully’ to protect our people, Say, Biden

US Defense Secretary, Lloyd Austin said that the retaliatory strikes were carried out at the direction of President, Joe Biden and targeted facilities used by groups affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

“The air strikes were conducted in response to today’s attack as well as a series of recent attacks against Coalition forces in Syria by groups affiliated with the IRGC,” Austin said in a statement. “No group will strike our troops with impunity, “he added.

The President of the US, Joe Biden stated, “Last night, U.S. military forces carried out a series of military strikes in Syria, targeting those responsible for attacking our personnel. My heart and deepest condolences go out to the family of the American we lost, and wish a speedy recovery for those who were wounded.”

“The U.S. does not seek conflict with Iran, but be prepared for us to act forcefully to protect our people,” President added.

He has clarified that their only intention with this series of air strikes was to attack the one who hurt his army men. They do not wish to indulge in any kind of conflict with Iran further. Moreover, he said that he will do anything to protect his countrymen.
