Right after the death of Yankina who fell from 160 feet, a probe has begun regarding her mysterious fall. Press Service of the Western Military District ‘Fontanka’  and the RIC (Russian Investigative Committee) have started their investigation sensing it a ‘murder’.

Marina Yankina, a high-ranking Russian defence official died after reportedly falling from a window of a building in St Petersburg yesterday on 16 February 2023.

The top Russian official was attached to the Eastern Military District, supervising the financial support department of the Russian Ministry of Defence. Her body was found lying on Zamshina Street by a passerby at the entrance of a house in St Petersburg.

Following the death of Yankina after falling from 160 feet, the Russian political arena is abuzz with speculations. The reports say that she was close to President Vladimir Putin and also was a key figure in the funding of Russia’s military offensive in Ukraine.

A media report also claims that prior to her death, Yankina had called her ex-husband. She reportedly had informed him what she was intending to do.

This media outlet ‘Mash on Moika,’ says that “On the phone conversation Yankina told her husband about what she was going to do. She also informed him where she would leave things. While hanging up the phone she had also asked him to call the police. After some minutes following the call, her body was found on the ground floor.

The lady aide of the Russian President, Yankina’s death has come days after Major General Vladimir Makarov’s death. Makarov was recently fired by Russian President Vladimir Putin  and then his body was found in a suspected suicide form after a few days.

Prior to joining the Western Military region, Yankina served as the Deputy Chairman of the Property Relations Committee of St. Petersburg and she also was serving in the Federal Tax Service. Reports belive that she was at the centre of efforts to strengthen funding for the war against Ukraine.

Prior to death of Yankina around six weeks ago on 26 December one more Russian politician died. Pavel Antonov was the deputy of the Russian Duma who died when he was not in Russia. Pavel was recently in India and his body was also found dead in his hotel premise. As reported he fell out of a hotel window and died.

And just before Pavel one day prior to his death, the former chief of Russian Ground Forces Aleksey Maslov died in hospital and this was on December 25. It was not it, even before this on 24th of December Aleksandr Buzakov died who was the head of Russia’s ‘admiralty shipyards’ for around a decad.
