Finally! Position Filled After 2 Years, US Senate Appointed Ambassador To India

While the relations between India and US are at their peak times, the US has finally confirmed the US ambassador of India – Eric Garcetti. The former mayor of Los Angeles(LA) had to wait for 2 years to get the required number of votes from Congress. Since, he was nominated for the position by the US President, Joe Biden in the year 2021. The former ambassador, Kenneth Juster stepped down following the change in the American government.

The Controversial Ambassador

The Democratic Party could not fill the position for the past two years as the ambassador did not have the right amount of votes. The popular Democrat leader had a 9-year-long tenure as Mayor which was piled with not only accusations but also appraisal.

He was praised for his policy of a minimum $15 wage. Also, for making the Los Angeles commute system earthquake-resistant. In Addition to this, he was applauded for regularly addressing the public during the crucial Covid times.

In a steep contradiction, he was condemned for the homeless people in his city. The biggest stain in his political career came from Rick Jacobs, his closest aide. Jacob was alleged to have been involved in the ‘sexual harassment’ of Eric’s bodyguard Matthew Garza. People blamed him for saving his aide and not taking the much-required action.

Political Career

The new ambassador is said to have close relations with US President, Biden. Amazingly, he was the first Jewish Mayor of LA, the city of Angels. Further, he was selected by his fellow members to serve as the President of the City Council.

He was an achiever in the initial phases of his political career until the accusations were posed on him under Jacob’s Harassment case. He has definitely seen many peak points in his career, one of them being booking the city for the grand Olympics in 2028.
