The region’s Moscow-appointed governor reported on Thursday that six drones were shot down or blocked overnight in Russian-annexed Crimea.

Sergei Aksyonov said, “During the past night, six drones were shot down or blocked … in different parts of Crimea”.

“There were no victims or injured”, he added.

The tragedy occurs after Moscow launched its most severe strike on its turf since its offensive began in February 2022 against an armed group that crossed from Ukraine. Moscow used jets and artillery.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Russian region of Belgorod, claimed on Wednesday that multiple drones had attacked the area during the course of the previous night.

According to regional authorities, the area was subjected to continuous artillery and mortar fire, inflicting 13 injuries.

In response, Moscow claimed to have killed more than 70 Ukrainian terrorists.

Ukraine has denied any involvement.

The alleged perpetrators of the incursion praised the operation’s success, telling Ukrainian media on Wednesday that they had exposed Russia’s weakness.

“I want to show to them that we can fight against tyrants and that (Russian President Vladimir) Putin’s power is not limitless”, said Denis Kapustin of the Russian Volunteer Corps, which claimed responsibility for the mission.

Kapustin, nicknamed  “White Rex”, in Russia’s far-right circles, is well-known.
