The US Geological Survey (USGS) reported a 7.0-magnitude earthquake in the sea north of the Indonesian island of Java on Friday.
According to the UGSS, the powerful earthquake occurred at 4:55 pm local time (09:55 GMT), and Indonesia’s geological agency ruled out a tsunami after determining that the epicentre was located at a depth of 594 kilometres (370 miles).
