Pakistan Finance Minister: U.S. Trip Cancelled On Prime Minister’s Order

Pakistan Finance Minister Ishaq Dar announced on Saturday that he had cancelled his trip to the United States for the spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank on the prime minister’s orders due to the country’s political situation.

Ishaq Dar clarified that he would virtually attend important bilateral and multilateral meetings and that a Pakistani delegation would be present in Washington.

Pakistan’s Finance Minister downplayed reports that the cancelled trip was linked to a snag in Pakistan’s IMF bailout programme.
