Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to convince Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to address the growing anti-India elements bore futits following  the cancellation of the scheduled Sikh for Justice (SFJ) organized Khalistan Referendum event in Australia.

This diplomatic achievement showcases the strong determination and cooperation between India and Australia in countering divisive narratives and promoting bilateral ties.

In a significant move, the Sydney Masonic Centre took decisive action by canceling the highly controversial Khalistan Referendum event scheduled for June 4, two days ahead of the anniversary of Operation Bluestar, an army action taken to flush out militants from Golden Temple in June 1984. The decision comes in response to numerous complaints and alarming threats that raised grave concerns over public safety and the associated security risks tied to the Khalistani event.

The cancellation of the program reflects the commitment of both Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Albanese to taking strict action against divisive forces. It also highlights the shared dedication of both nations to maintaining strong diplomatic relations while addressing concerns raised by Prime Minister Modi regarding attacks on temples in Australia.

The defacement of several holy places in Australia by Khalistani elements and the clashes between pro-Indian demonstrators and Khalistanis have raised significant concerns. These incidents, which even led to the closing of the Indian consulate in Brisbane, highlight the urgent need to address these issues and prioritize public safety.

Notably, in the recent past, the Indian Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra, during a media briefing in Sydney, emphasized the importance of the strong bilateral ties between India and Australia. He made it clear that attacks on temples or the activities of separatist elements in Australia would not jeopardize the friendly relations between the two countries.
