US: 3 days 3 incidents; nine died including two students today; official calls it “Tragedy upon Tragedy”

 US Mass Shooting: After the horrific incident at Monetary Park, nine people including two students have died in three separate shooting incidents in the United States.

The brutal incident of the mass shooting in Northern California came less than 48 hours after a 72-year-old gunman opened fire at a Chinese Lunar New Year dance event in Los Angeles and left 11 dead.

The gunman was identified as Huu Van Tran. He shot himself dead when surrounded by the policemen, said the LA Police.

3 Days 3 Incidents: More Mass Shootings in the US

Two shootings were reported at the farms in northern California’s Half Moon Bay, south of San Francisco. According to the reports, seven people died and three have been critically injured.

Ahead of the investigation, the police said that a 67-year-old local resident named Chunli Zhao had been taken into custody.’

Official Takes Twitter

California Governor Gavin Newsom, who was in Monterey Park where Saturday’s shooting took place, breaks the heart-wrenching news on his Twitter handle. In a tweet, he wrote, “At the hospital meeting with victims of a mass shooting when I get pulled away to be briefed about another shooting. This time in Half Moon Bay. Tragedy upon tragedy.”

Another mass shooting was reported in Des Moines in Iowa. The incident took place at Starts Right Here, which runs an educational mentorship programme for at-risk youths. Two students were killed and three people were wounded two of them critically, said the official.

Des Moines police said that two teenagers, aged 18 and 16, died after being hospitalized with critical injuries. William Holmes, the 49-year-old founder-CEO of Starts Right Here, is in critical condition.

These consecutive mass shootings come against the backdrop of the frightening rise in gun violence in the US. The incidents have a ranging debate over easy access to firearms and weapons.
