Hockey World Cup 2023 – India vs Spain: It was the fourth and the last quarter of the Pool D match between India and Spain. India beat Spain 2-0 in a contest that was not expected to be this easy. The first-half lead of 2-0 proved decisive with no goals in the second half for India. 

Harmanpreet Singh and company started off the journey to the world cup keeping hopes alive. Defeating Spain in the opener with a good 2-0 finish Team India achieved their first win of the FIH Hockey World Cup 2023.

On Friday the 13th, the 2023 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup begins in Odisha with a happy note for the hosts India. Taking on one of the strong contenders of the cup, Spain on the opening day at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium, Rourkela Rourkela, Team Hockey India came out with flying colors.

A confident and excited Team India now looks all set to take on the second rivals England in the next match on Sunday during the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup. And also, currently ranked sixth in the world, Team India would be one of the strong medal contenders in this world cup.

Winning the bronze in the Tokyo Olympics last year, the Indian team sought their first podium finish in forty-eight years in the history of the World Cup now. In the year 19 71, India won a bronze in the inaugural tournament and succeeded in clinching silver in the next edition after two years in 1973.

In the match today in Birsa Munda stadium at Raurkela, the first half decided the second half, and Hardik Singh and Amit Rohidas scoring for Team India contributed significantly and the end brought bright smiles for the Indian fans around the world.
