Young grappler Rupin bagged his first senior-level international medal with a silver in the 55kg Greco-Roman event. In addition to this, the 19-year-old Rupin ended the tournament with the second-best finish.

The start of the Asian Wrestling Championship is definitely a banger. India won three medals on Sunday – a silver and two bronze in Astana, Kazakhstan.

Young grappler Rupin bagged his first senior-level international medal with a silver in the 55kg Greco-Roman event. In addition to this, the 19 year old Rupin ended the tournament with the second-best finish.

Neeraj won bronze in 63 Kg category while Sunil Kumar bagged the medal in 87Kg category.

Sports Authority of India congratulated the players with these posts.

The highlight of Rupin’s Wrestling tournament

Rupin lost the match after giving a tough fight at a score of 1-3. The final match was with another strong competitor from Iran, Poya Soulat Dad Marz.

Rupin won the gold medal in the 2019 World Cadet Championship. He started this tournament with a 16-7 win with a strong performance. It was so good that he won by technical superiority against Kyrgyzstan’s player, Sardarbek in the qualification round.

Following that, he proved his mettle against Kazakhstan’s Amangali Rahimbayev and China’s Zhang Haifeng in the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively.
