Sonia Gandhi, the former Congress president was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi on Wednesday. She was suffering from a respiratory infection for last few days.

The sources of the news agency claim that she was admitted for a routine check-up. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra accompanied her to the hospital, the sources reveal.

Rahul Gandhi whose Bharat Jodo Yatra was in Uttar Pradesh yesterday came back to Delhi after walking just seven kilometers. The Yatra had entered its Uttar Pradesh leg on Tuesday evening.

The ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ resumed at 6am today from UP’s Mavikalan in Baghpat district after halting there for the night.

Rahul Gandhi, who has been seen in a white t-shirt throughout the yatra’s legs in Haryana and Delhi despite biting cold, was snapped walking this morning. Meanwhile, Priyanka did not join his brother after the yatra resumed but Congress sources told that she is expected to come back in afternoon.

Sonia Gandhi, who has been battling health issues since contracting Covid-19 last year, had travelled abroad for a neck checkup a few months ago. She also joined the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ in Karnataka’s Mandya and was later seen with Rahul, Priyanka and her husband Robert Vadra in Delhi.

The Delhi leg of the yatra was the first time the entire Gandhi family came together for Congress’s biggest public outreach movement, which the grand old party has stated is aimed at bringing the country together.

The 3,750 km-long Bharat Jodo Yatra started from Kanyakumari in September. The Yatra will spend 2 days in Uttar Pradesh and will enter Haryana’s Panipat on Thursday evening via Baghpat and Shamli.

The Yatra saw special support from Amethi, which was considered the bastion of the Congress party, but Rahul Gandhi lost the seat to Smriti Irani in 2019.

Inspired by Rahul Gandhi’s white t-shirt in the shivering cold, many Congress workers from Amethi joined the Bharat Jodo Yatra, wearing a similar kind of white t-shirt.

“We drew inspiration from Rahul Gandhi who has been walking from the south to the north of the country in a t-shirt. Also, we want Amethi to be distinctly visible in the Uttar Pradesh leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra,” Amethi district Congress general secretary Anil Singh said.
