Punjab Police has launched a massive state-wide cordon and search operation in the state against elements of Waris Punjab De. 78 persons have been arrested so far, while several others have been detained. The chief of this group, Amritpal Singh, who is not only fanning radical sentiments but has also disrespected the Indian constitution, has managed to run away and the administration has launched a massive manhunt to nab him.

Internet and message shutdown have been extended until Monday and section 144 has been imposed to boost the special operation. So far Punjab police have recovered one .315-bore rifle, seven 12-bore rifles, one revolver, and 373 cartridges.

Police have also recovered bulletproof jackets and arms from Amritpal’s residence with ‘AKF’ marked on them which stands for Anandpur Khalsa Force. The walls and the gate of his house also had the same abbreviations.

Sources say that he has formed his own militia with people from rehabilitation centres whom he calls to stage violent protests. The radical leader is also involved in the nexus of drugs by procuring low-quality cheap antidotes of drugs, thereby prolonging the dependence of inmates. The cross-border drug import via drones has increased inevitably after his arrival in Punjab. He travels in a Mercedes given by drug mafia Ravel Singh.

The rehabilitation centres run by him don’t have doctors for counselling, rather it is the brainwashing camp for WPD where they infuse inmates with violence and radical motives and sometimes they are beaten until they agree to the objective of this Khalistani group.
