Muscat – On Wednesday, Oman stressed the significance of its attendance at the G20 summit in India, marking the beginning of its engagement on this international stage.

The G20 meetings foster communication between the top 20 economies in the world and the visiting members to spur global economic expansion.

Pankaj Khimji, advisor at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) and in charge of Oman’s G20 secretariat, stressed the importance of the sultanate’s participation in such meetings when speaking to the media.

He highlighted that the G20, since its inception, had been following the practice of inviting select countries as participating guests to ensure geographical inclusivity.

The G20 summit this year is according special attention to small and medium enterprises so as to support them through financing facilities and creation of unified platforms.
