Dr. Pegu: The Government Is Promoting Assamese Culture Internationally
The 183-year-old district of Sivasagar in Upper Assam is centered on Rangpur, the former site of the Ahom Kingdom’s capital. The then-Hiteswar Saikia administration divided the traditional Sivasagar district into two distinct districts on July 1, 1983—Jorhat and Sivasagar.
The guardian minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu was present as the Sivasagar district administration celebrated the 10th District Day on Saturday with the help of the local populace.
Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, who was present at the public meeting held at the Sivasagar Commerce College, stated that the state’s current administration has been working hard to promote Assamese culture internationally and that attempts are being made to promote Sivasagar’s heritage outside of the state as well.
He claimed that the government’s Rangghar Beautification Project is a component of the wider strategy to make Sivasagar a popular tourism destination on a global scale. He claimed that the Sivasagar University and medical college projects are being upgraded by the BJP government in order to advance education.
Along with the students who achieved positions in Board and Council examinations, Dr. Pegu distributed certificates to over 800 Bihu dancers and dhol performers who participated in the historic event in Guwahati Sarusajai stadium on April 14.
He also gave congratulations to the schools in Gunatsov that had consistently obtained the A+ category. The education minister made it clear that there is no directive from the executive branch authorizing the assignment of extra work during the summer break
Dr. Pegu went to the art gallery as well, and he was captivated by the bamboo sculptures by Pankaj Raidingia and the paintings by Jagadish Buragohain, whose exhibition was opened by Lakhikanta Mahanta. Every development block, according to Aditya Vikram Yadav, would have a sports stadium, significantly enhancing rural sports. He also brought up the Charaideu Maidams’ World Heritage Site initiative.
The scooter rally for females was started by Sivasagar Municipality Board Chairperson Mrinalee Konwar as a symbol of women’s emancipation. The drama Tetun Tamuli, produced by the staff of the deputy commissioner’s office and staged in Yuva Dal Auditorium, was opened by Smti Jyoti Dutta, educationist Khagendranath Bhuyan, and Dr Sabyasachi Mahanta in the evening.
