Faith In Action

Record breaking team

On July 5, 2023, in Mumbai on the sets of India’s Got Talent, the Dimapur-based Faith In Action team made history by shattering a Chinese team’s 11-year-old record for “the highest martial arts kick (assisted)” by kicking 14 feet, 5 inches higher than the Chinese team’s previous record of 14 feet, 2 inches.

The entire Faith In Action squad at India’s Got Talent also comprised Kevin, Tiayanger, Imnatoshi Longkumer, Jon, Altab, Liike Kibami, Hinokali, Hatneinem Khongsai, Diana, and Deep Kumar. Kitenlo K Thono, Kevin, Gwahilo Kent, and Kumugha were a part of the record-breaking high kick.

Speaking to Nagaland Tribune, Deep Kumar, Founder and Coach of Faith In Action Academy said, “The achievement of the academy is an achievement of the state and the country. It is not a personal thing.” He attributed the achievement to God and express gratitude to all well-wishers and supporters.

“It is not us, it is the grace of God. If you trust in God, anything is possible. Have faith and rely all faith on God and the rest God will take care of,” Kumar added.

The coach also exuded hope to bring more laurels and honour in the future and regretted, “We did not have much time so, we could only participate in one category.”

Speaking about the growth and importance of Martial Arts in the state, Kumar lamented that parents were one of the main hindrances of the growth because they fear that Martial Arts may encourage aggression and violence in the child. Martial Arts instead teaches a child to be more disciplined, respectful and social, he mentioned.

He also pointed the open truth of not giving importance to arts like martial arts, singing and dancing etc. as a career and said, “I am coaching for living and likewise there are also many people who are sustaining through Martial Arts and others”.

Kumar went on to advise parents to promote rather than force their children’s interests.

Since its establishment in 2008, Faith In Action Taekwondo Academy has been teaching the techniques to both men and women. The academy also offers free self-defense seminars to female educational institutions in Dimapur, including Pranabananda Women’s College, St. John High School, SD Jain Girl’s College, and many more, with the goal of boosting their self-esteem, assisting them in overcoming their fears, and enabling them to go beyond their current boundaries.

The founder emphasised that we are prepared to teach martial arts skills wherever if any institution approaches.
