Linda Yaccarino, Twitter’s new CEO has begun her tenure at the social media firm.

Linda Yaccarino tweeted, “It happened — first day in the books! Stay tuned…”, through her official Twitter handle.

Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter is turning to Linda Yaccarino, a former NBCUniversal marketing executive, to help the firm restore its relationship with brands after losing business as a result of his purchase and rollback of the site’s content guidelines.

Mr. Musk asked his followers in December whether he should step down as CEO and 57.5% said yes.

Twitter recently lost two executives in charge of ensuring the site’s moderation for violence, hate speech, pornography, and other content that businesses are afraid to promote alongside their products.

As of Monday, Twitter’s US advertising revenue was $88 million in the five weeks from April 1, a 59% decrease from the previous year.

Elon Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion in October of last year, indicating that he would only be in charge for a limited period to complete the organizational makeover he believed was required for the company to thrive.
