South Superstar ‘Pawan Kumar’ Fans Start We Dont Want Theri Remake Trend as a Fan Sends ‘Suicide Note’

Theri Movie Remake: News of South Super Star Pawan Kumar’s next film with filmmaker Harish Shankar has caused a stir amongst fans. There is speculation that the venture is slated to be a remake of the 2016 Tamil film ‘Theri ‘ directed by Atlee.

After a two year hiatus, Filmmaker Harish Shankar finalised his next film ‘Bhavadeeyudu Bhagat Singh’ with Pawan Kalyan earlier this year. After the super successful blockbuster movie, ‘Gabbar Singh’ fans were ecstatic that Harish Shankar and Pawan Kumar were joining hands again. But the project was not seeming to move forward for multiple reasons.

Harish Shankar recently took to Twitter and posted the following:

Big excitement is on the way !!! Watch out this space guys !!!!

In the tweet he has tagged Mythri Movie Makers, DOP Ayananka Bose and Music Composer Devi Sri Prasad alongwith actor Pavan Kumar. This started the rumours as fans started to speculate that a ‘Theri’ remake with Pawan Kumar was in the offing.

Fans took to social media and started tweeting how they felt and tagged Harish Shankar to clarify the rumours of a ‘Theri’ remake. Tweets tagging filmmaker Harish Shankar and Mythri movies the producers of ‘Theri’ to not let the remake be made were being tweeted rapidly.

One user posted ” This is not a trend, it’s our pain @MythriOfficial ! Bcz no one is handling PK perfectly who has Biggest fan following in Telugu states”

One fan went to the extent of sending a suicide note to Mythri Movie Makers asking them to not allow the remake to be made.

Theri film was released in 2016

It has already been dubbed in Telugu. This news of a remake was not something that the fans took very well.

South SuperStar Pawan Kumar enjoys a cult status among fans and making a remake would make people lose interest in the film and affect Pawan’s star power. This has already been seen in the case of Chiranjeevi with the remake of Godfather.

Fan power along with the power of social media should not be underestimated. It might be a good idea to roll back the idea of a remake. If this is what the speculations have led to then the actual film might lead to a major loss for all involved.
