Alia Bhatt wins the Best Actress Award at Dadasaheb Phalke Awards

The Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival 2023 awards were hosted on Monday,20 February. Many celebrities win the respective awards in a variety of categories. From Kashmir Files to Gangubai Kathiawadi, films with recording-breaking performances take many awards home. Bollywood Stars such as Alia Bhatt, Rekha, Varun Dhawan, Anupam Kher, Vivek Agnihotri, Rishab Shetty, Ronit Roy, and others arrived for the award ceremony and were seen posing for the paparazzi.

Alia Bhatt Wins Actress of The Night 

With her work in Gangubai Kathiawadi, Alia successfully takes home the award for best actress. Taking to her Instagram handle, Alia shared a selfie with the Dadasaheb Phalke award as she looked super happy. The actress, who played the titular character in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2022-released film Gangubai Kathiawadi, received admiration and praise across the industry for her portrayal of the real-life sex worker-turned-mafia don.

Alia’s Outfit for the Award Ceremony 

Alia chooses ivory as her colour of the night. An Ivory saree comes decked in a gold patti border, intricate floral thread embroidery, and sequin work. She draped the saree in traditional style, letting the pallu fall from her shoulder. A matching blouse carrying a plunging neckline, half sleeves with sheer panels, thread embroidery, and cropped length rounded it off. She paired it with minimal accessories and dewy makeup.

Other Major winners for The Night 

Ranbir Kapoor won Best Actor for his performance in Brahmāstra. While actor-filmmaker Rishab Shetty was awarded the Most Promising Actor award for his Kannada film Kantara. Varun Dhawan too won the Critics Best Actor award for his film Bhediya. In the television category, Rupali Ganguly’s daily soap drama Anupamaa won the Television Series of The Year award at the festival. Veteran actor Rekha was honoured with an award for her ‘Outstanding Contribution In The Film Industry’.Meanwhile, Hariharan won an award for ‘Outstanding Contribution In The Music Industry’.
