A Shocking Verdict! Delhi High Court Discharges Sharjeel Imam And Asif Iqbal Tanha In Jamia Violence Case

Jamia Violence Case: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Sharjeel Imam and student activist Asif Iqbal Tanha were discharged by Delhi High Court on Saturday in the Jamia violence case. The decision was made by the Additional Sessions Judge Arul Varma-led Saket court bench.

Last year, the trial court mandated the filing of charges against Imam under IPC Sections 505 (Statements conducing to public mischief), 124A (Sedition), 153A (Promoting Enmity), 53B (Imputations detrimental to National Integration), and 13 (Punishment for Unlawful Activities Prevention Act).

According to the prosecution, Imam reportedly threatened to cut out Assam and the rest of the Northeast from India during talks at Jamia Millia Islamia on December 13 and at Aligarh Muslim University on December 16.
